Falconets got beaten by Japan

Hosts Japan concluded the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup with a 2-1 victory over Nigeria Falconets to claim third place.
Yoko Tanaka and Asuka Nishikawa help Japan claim the third plce in front of  a buoyant and colourful crowd at the National Stadium in Tokyo.
Well we can't really blame them,can we? The Falconets were reported to have began the match with a good  start by really possessing the ball in the opening period only to later get sent home with no Trophies.

Rapper The Game turns hero

The Game snapped into hero mode earlier this week ... possibly saving the life of a man who badly injured himself in a bicycle crash on an L.A. street.



Game was driving home from his studio early Wednesday morning when he noticed a man who was lying face down in the street ... with his bike on top of his body.

He pulled over to see if he could help ... and when he noticed the man was unresponsive, he immediately called 911. 

"I couldn’t just keep driving seeing a man in pain with his head on the ground."

Game waited with the man until paramedics arrived to the scene ... and says the man was transported to a nearby hospital.

Cops tell us the man is alive and is currently recovering from his injuries. Police also confirm that Game was the person who made the first 911 call.

Game tells us, "If that was me in that situation, I'd want someone to do the same thing."

Again, Nigeria stagnant on FIFA rankings

FOR the second consecutive month, Nigeria's status in the monthly FIFA rankings remained unchange as the country retained her 58th position on the standing.
Nigeria, it will be recalled jumped two places to move to the 58th position in July, maintaining the position in the August ranking.
Similarly, Africa's best in the rankings, Cote' d'voire neither improve nor drop from its 16th position retaining its place as the continent's number one but remained as the only African country in the top 20.
Algeria (28th), took over from Ghana (31st) as the second-highest ranked African team with Mali (32nd) and Libya (36th) completing the top five, followed by Egypt (36th), Tunisia (41st), Zambia (42) and Gabon (44th).
However, no fewer than four African teams have achieved their highest-ever FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking position. They are Mali (32nd, up 7), Libya (36th, up 2), Central African Republic (64th, up 7) and South Sudan (197th, up 2). NT
The top ten has seen only one change, with Portugal (4th, up 1) swapping places with Uruguay (5th, down 1), there has been a lot more activity in the remainder of the top 20, where Switzerland (20th, up 3) have extended Europe’s predominance as the 14th UEFA team, Mexico (21st, down 3) have fallen below 20th for the first time since March 2012, and Ecuador (17th, up 3) have become one of the top 20 teams in their continued climb from the previous month by moving up a further three places.
The major movers in the top 50 include European sides Slovenia (24th, up 9), Belgium (40th, up 13), and Austria (49th, up 11), whose 2-0 win at home to Turkey has seen them back in the top 50 after one and a half years.

N34bn ID card scam: French court fines coy for bribing Nigerian officials

A French firm, Safran, has been fined about N100 million (500,000 euros) by a court in Paris for bribing public officials in Nigeria to secure the  N33.5 billion contract for the printing of more than 70 million identity cards between 2000 and 2003.

Safran, a French aeronautics and defence group, was found guilty by the investigating magistrates, of giving bribes to Nigerian officials that helped it win the contract.

The company is partly owned by France,which owns a 30 per cent stake.

The court found that SAGEM (Société d’Applications Générales de l’Électricité et de la Mécanique, translated to mean Company of General Applications of Electricity and Mechanics, a company that merged with SNECMA to form Safran in 2005, paid bribes worth between N4.8 million ($30,000) to N80 million ($500,000) to Nigerian officials between 2000 and 2003 to secure a 171 million euro contract.

The court condemned the company for endorsing the payments, but dropped charges against two former SAGEM executives: Jean-Pierre Delarue, then a sales manager in Nigeria, and François Perrachon, the former director for identification systems.

Prosecutors had sought a suspended sentence of up to 18 months and fines of 15,000 euros each for the two officials.

The prosecution alleged that Sagem paid millions of dollars as bribes to high-ranking Nigerian officials including the former Minister of Internal Affairs, late Chief Sunday Afolabi.

In reaction to the fine, Safran said it would appeal, and further reiterated its commitment to anti-corruption rules.

The company said, “Safran would like to point out that it is deeply attached to the strict respect of anti-corruption rules.”

Prosecutors had originally sought to have the Safran case dismissed, but did not lodge any formal request at the trial in June. The case came to global focus in 2005, when former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo said Sagem paid bribes and presented gifts, including Rolex watches to Nigerian officials to secure the contract.

Afolabi, who was appointed Minister of the Interior in 1999, was in charge of the Identity Card project. He had noted that the cards, to be issued to Nigerians would be used for the 2003 Federal and State elections. Afolabi was arrested on December 5, 2003, by the  Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, on allegations of corruption.

In December 2003 Afolabi stood trial with his successor in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mr. Mohammed Shata, former Labour Minister, Hussain Akwanga and others on charges that they had sought bribes worth about N320 million ($2million) from the French firm, Sagem in connection with the $214million contract to produce identity cards.

All the accused persons were granted bail on December 31, 2003.

Afolabi died of cancer in London in May 2004. In June 2004, the court dropped all charges against him.

Like all members of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, OECD, France is part of the convention against the bribery of foreign officials, which requires that the practice be a criminal offence.

A report by Reuters said foreign corruption rulings against big French companies are rare in France.

It said a report from the OECD that was leaked in July said French authorities lacked the resources to fight possible corruption in big export contracts.

Nigerian Woman Gives Birth On Spanish Bus

Spanish police assisted a 34-year-old Nigerian woman give birth after she went into labor on a bus. The woman (name withheld) called for help after her water broke Monday night on the bus, which at the time was in transit through a tollbooth in Sitges, southwest of Barcelona.  The driver called the attention of police officers who were nearby assisting another bus that had broke down. The officers assisted the woman deliver a bouncing baby boy before an ambulance arrived minutes later.
The mother and newborn were taken to a local hospital, where both are doing well.

Terry G's fiancee is expecting a baby soon

Terry G's fiancee Mimi Omoregbe is expected to give birth to a baby soon.
The United Kingdom based based lady is said to be close to her delivery date after which she is going to get married to the sangalow singer and music producer, Terry G.

 

Well,it's really  a joyful news for Terry G and all his fans,even we can't wait to see if the boy(oh!...we forgot to mention that he is expecting a baby boy) is going to follow the footstep of his father.

The first Nigerian message beep by Elcomserve

Baby born with rosary in hand

Barely three months after the reported birth of a baby with a mini-Quran in Mushin area of Lagos State, another oddity has occurred in Sagamu, Ogun State as a woman was said to have delivered a baby boy with an Islamic rosary, otherwise known as Tesbeu.
Investigation by Sunday Sun revealed that the boy was delivered on Tuesday at Rotoluwa Maternity Home along Aiyepe Road at about 11.45pm.
Mrs. Gbemisola Hamsat, a 35-year-old mother of five, was said to have been delivered of the baby and the rosary.
Expectedly, the strange delivery has turned their 2, Odujoko Street, off Prison Road, residence into a Mecca of sorts as people thronged the area to confirm the tale.
The Matron of the Maternity Home, Mrs. Sarah Olurotimi Oloyede, a traditional birth attendant, confirmed that she took the delivery of the somewhat strange child.
Oloyede’s words: “I heard a sound of something dropping into the bed pan before the placenta came out.
“It sounded as if it was an iron or something with weight that dropped on it and when I checked it closely, I saw a rosary covered with thick blood.”
Mrs Oloyede said that when she took the rosary by the ‘tail’ to examine it properly, all the clotted blood on it fell off, leaving the shinning rosary.

Paralympians haveused up to 43 000 condoms already

Are the athletes taking part in the ongoing Paralympics in London for sex only or for sport reasons too? Well they may be there for the two reasons.According to the to what Ali Jawad, who was born without legs, but seems to have all of his other faculties intact said: “We’ll probably use about 90 percent of the condoms because we’re crazy. We get excited very easily. That’s why I’m going to the Paralympics, why I’ve worked so hard for four years, for the free condoms.”
Writing for Channel 4, the host broadcaster, James Ballardie, did his maths and came up with a total of almost 43 000 condoms that have been used so far in the ongoing Paralympics game.

The world may have to go into vegetarianism by 2060.

The world leading water scientist have issued a very stern warning about global food supplies, saying that the world's population may have to switch almost completely to a vegetarian diet over the next 40 years to avoid catastrophic shortages.
"There will not be enough water available on current croplands to produce food for the expected 9 billion population in 2050 if we follow current trends and changes towards diets common in western nations," the report by Malik Falkenmark and colleagues at the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) said.
"There will be just enough water if the proportion of animal-based foods is limited to 5% of total calories and considerable regional water deficits can be met by a … reliable system of food trade."
 Dire warnings of water scarcity limiting food production come as Oxfam and the UN prepare for a possible second global food crisis in five years. Prices for staples such as corn and wheat have risen nearly 50% on international markets since June, triggered by severe droughts in the US and Russia, and weak monsoon rains in Asia. More than 18 million people are already facing serious food shortages across the Sahel.
"Nine hundred million people already go hungry and 2 billion people are malnourished in spite of the fact that per capita food production continues to increase," they said. "With 70% of all available water being in agriculture, growing more food to feed an additional 2 billion people by 2050 will place greater pressure on available water and land."
The report is being released at the start of the annual world water conference in Stockholm, Sweden, where 2,500 politicians, UN bodies, non-governmental groups and researchers from 120 countries meet to address global water supply problems.

GOP calls for broader gun rights, unlimited clips.Is this stupidity or what?

Republicans have strengthened the pro-gun-rights portion of their party platform, including a new call for unlimited bullet capacities in guns, in a defiant response to criticism that followed recent mass shootings at a Colorado cinema and an Arizona congresswoman's gathering.
What i am now confused about now is why will they strengthen the gun right it is that same right that made it easy for  those guys to carry out their crime...oh sorry,i forgot it's none of my concern
